Poseidon’s Call
A Sorrow's Sea, with depths that tease
A love lost that never was found
With a yearning that simply abounds
And in astonishment, secedes
The joy that kept afloat
The lovely spirit held so steadfast
Sea legs too soaked
Standing against its mast
Should his spirit cling to life?
Only the ocean’s wells know his strife
The mighty Poseidon tastes the tears so heart felt
Calling him to the murk where hearts die and melt
And to his depths, he so falls
As the sea so calls;
A last breath, a siren visage
“Open your eyes”, sings the lass
Atop the seaside sands he lies at last
Knowing she, as past loves, will also pass

Hi. Would you please explain this poem? Is it about a breakup? Is it about searching love? What is it about? Is it about your own life and experience? Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a story about a man in search for the love of his life. He had gone through heartbreak in the past and eventually decides he will never find his one true love and decides to end his lonely life.
ReplyDeleteAfter boarding a boat and plunging into the water, he is rescued by a siren, be it a mermaid or woman, and as he opens his eyes he thinks of how she too will leave him. The irony is that she did not allow him the peace of dying.
This is a really deep poem and it's definitely something that happened to you. Have all women in your life deceived you? Did you ever find a woman that truly loved you?
ReplyDeleteThis really has nothing to do with me. It has more to do with the long path to love and the possibility of never finding it. I think of all those people that are with someone because they are afraid to be alone, rather than because they are truly in love.
ReplyDeleteIt has many levels and is open for interpretation.
